[Vacation] Thanksgiving: Re-Vision

This Thanksgiving has been a lot of fun. One thing about it is always the food. That’s always ♥. So much family crowded my aunt’s house it was insane. I have been missing them a lot since I’ve gone away to BU. Home is where the heart is, that’s for sure! Also, this family was big and it’s just getting bigger every year I swear. New babies and the “then babies” are “now kids”. I keep being reminded how fast time flys. Earlier today I sat down and had a long talk with my grandmother about how times have changed. They told me a lot about old things like the “hi-fi” and those old telephones where you had to turn a handle in order to dial. I always think to myself how things could never get any better. However, they are always advancing. I remember back to about 1995 when we finally got a Super Nintendo. The first thing I said was: “These are the best games; the backgrouds are so real; You wish you had games like this when you were young, Mom.” Now I look around vinyl is coming back in as a new retro thing and now we can walk around with tons of music in our pockets. Yet, we are never fulfilled. Advancement will never end and although right now I can’t imagine anything added onto the technology we have right now, somethign will always come around to improve it. Okay back to Thanksgiving, things are looking up for me right now! Relationship is moving ↑; I’ve feeling very close with my family recently; I’m getting a new computer; I am relaxed and almost ready for class Monday. Also, being in Connecticut (which has a large Jamaican population), I have been able to get some authentic Jamaican beef patties. I was definitely longing for it. Boston does not have them like they do in Connecticut. The only place I’ve had a beef patty in Boston has been Ruggles train station and it was not all that great. I’m glad I spent Thanksgiving at home, I needed this time to be with my own family. I spend a lot of time with friends and Raphael and his family, I often neglect and, as sad is it is, forget that I have any. But I will try hard to remember it.

Aquari…-ahem- Museum of Science

Okay so we were very intent on going to the Aquarium to complete a Natural Science lab that we are assigned… Yeah…that didn’t happen. We went and the line was HUGE! We stood in line when this lady gave us a free pass into the Museum of Science. So that’s where we went instead… completely ignoring our lab. We’ll still manage. We had an awesome time there though. We went in like a posse (Me, Raphael, Thandi, Becca, and Khalil).

Just thought it was lol-worthy

Okay so I was nearly killed the other day. I was walking to work and there was some construction going on for a building on the street and as I was walking by, a chunk of rock fell in front of me then an even bigger one hit me. I flew into the street and was flying through the street trying to avoid cars and I was almost successful but one hit my backpack and I was hit on the back and hit the cement. The ambulance came and took me away. Not exactly…

What actually  happened was I went to work and upon trying to pick up a glass that I was supposed to return to its section, it broke in my hand and cut my thumb really badly. I was panicking and so I started flinging my hand like I normally do when I hurt my hand but then blood start splattering everywhere. It was a really bad cut. I feel really bad because I got blood all over the rug, the wall, some children clothing, and a lady’s shirt with my blood in the process; I also ruined my work clothes. I was helped by a lot of co-workers that helped me to stop the bleeding. I was taken to Tuft Medical Center and they took me to the pediatric area because until next month, I’m not 18 years old. I guess this is how I’m enjoying my last month of childhood (although I already consider myself an adult). In the hospital I did my paper work and the nurses were very nice. They were shocked that I was willing to sit and watch everything they were doing to me. I was rather intrigued by it all. I’ve never had stitches before so I needed to see how that was done. They did it well and it doesn’t hurt now. Tylenol makes it all better. 😀 So all’s well with the world.

D

Finishing touches on my bandages! 😀

WARNING: If blood sickens you don’t see the rest of the pictures but if you’re curious on the process I went through, please feel free to see it!

Uroboros / ユロボロス / 유루부룼!!

Tour Banner

Out of nowhere, to me at least, Dir en grey came to Boston! It was really shocking that although I new that it was going to happen my mind didn’t really comprehend it. At least not until they came out on stage. I was suprised by Toshiya and Kyo’s height. Toshiya was crazy tall and Kyo was crazy short. It was obvious that they were pros at what they do. Unlike the previous Japanese Rock concerts we’ve been to, they performed the entire time without getting boring. I was also shocked by their wide range of song choice. They played 2 new songs from their albums that I really love:

Dozing Green (Newer Song)

Obscure (Older Song)

Those definitely were highlights.

Enjoy it!

This month I have taken notice of the huge flux of new music! I’m actually very excited. All of the music that is currently being produced is suprisingly WONDERFUL! There are quiet a few that I guess I’m going to have to include in this entry. Some of these may be new and some may be old. Most of all, I’m going to the Dir en grey concert tonight with Raphael and Kevin. It’s insane that they are going to be so close by. They are literally playing down the street from Raphael’s house. That is definitely crazy! Sadly, there is no word of when my beloved Hikki will be near. She’s been so lazy with her production or at least on the downdown about it.

First up!

BoA is trying to break into the United States music industry. She has debuted with her single ‘Eat You Up.’ The song is suprisingly catchy although the verses of the song are rather monotone. Dekyil said it makes her feel really impatient when listening. It’s a really good first single. She kind of dumbed down and dirty-ed up her lyrics for the American audience. That means the appearance of lyrics like “I’ll eat you up…so yum yum…” But hey! It’s no where as bad as Hikki’s “You’re Easy Breezy and I’m Japaneezy…” (I can’t wait for the day that that line in the song means nothing to me) Take a listen to her song and it comes with two music videos which is somethign new in the music industry here.

Other than that, Keane and Ami Suzuki have released new albums. These two I had given up on because their preceeding albums did not impress me too much. However the newest releases have blown me away. Keane has started to move away from their Coldplay-ish sound and created new stuff all on their own. Their album is very new and soothing so I think I’ll remember that for quite a while. I am contemplating buying it soon. Maybe.

Lastly for now is Ami Suzuki! She is one of those Japanese Pop underdogs. She works very hard but the turn out is never what is hoped for. I can agree to some state that in her early career at the end of the 90s, she was extremely over rated. However with her comeback in 2004, she made some really amazing music which did not get enough credit. He last album from earlier this year, DOLCE, only had a few good songs on it but this one, Supreme Show, is stunning. She worked with Nakata from capsule to make this one. It worked out nicely. Only making #8 on the charts at the moment, it is must better than the rankings for her previous things. DOLCE was only at about #26. Congrats goes to Ami and the album is her best yet.

OBAMA WON!!

Yes. I’m really late with this post. About a week late but I just wanted to express the fact that it’s an awesome thing. I was disappointed by the fact that I’m only 17 and do not yet have the right to vote but I wanted to vote for Barack Obama. The thing that stinks the most is that my birthday is only next month so I was very close. I think the fact that the US has elected him as president, is a very symbolic thing. It shows the change that is taking place here. Today, in Social Science, we watched a movie called “The Bridge to Freedom.” During the Civil Rights Movement, it was seen as just to beat down black people for trying to gain the right to vote and now we are able to vote FOR a person of color! A pretty great thing. It’s a very moving thing in my opinion. The world is changing, it’s been a long time coming and there is still a long way to go. That is definitely something to be happy about!

Freedom. It tastes great!
