This year’s convention was very different from the others I’ve been to becuase I was the one who booked the hotel room! What’s stranger is that I live in CT and booked a hotel room. However, it was necessary for all the things that occured over the course of the 3 day convention. We hardly visited any panels. The majority of the time we walked around the dealer’s room which had a great deal of things to offer! I bought 2 new Utada singles: ‘Movin’ on Without You’ and ‘Can You Keep A Secret?’ The convention events were kind of cheesy but supposedly we missed a huge chunk when we left the con to visit my nearby aunt. My friend Manny said that the mascarade got really interesting while we were gone but I don’t regret leaving for pizza. It was fun.

Summertime = Anime Time?

小学生?

小学生?

Since summer began I’ve been getting interested again in anime. Which for a while I have only been a passive watcher. I’ve picked up watching the series most popular among American anime-viewers: Naruto and Bleach. However they are VERY LONG and still ongoing. I am not one to take interest in longer anime. I tend to enjoy shorter ones more. Raphael and I are contemplating taking up creating an anime blog. We have not settled on what we will call it or anything yet. I am shocked at how interested in Japanese culture it is making me most recently. I am trying out a bunch of new things. What I’m really in search of is an anime that isn’t yet popular but is really good. I’m a strong believer in some of the best things being unpopular. Any ideas on what anime I should take up watching please be my guest.

{Return to Boston: Anime Convention 2009 #1 (Anime Boston ’09)
日曜の朝の出来

日曜の朝の出来

So Anime Boston came up with a very sudden suprise although in a sense I was expecting it. However it was at such an inconvenient time. I had just come back from Boston earlier in the week and I had almost no money. So I asked to borrow 100 bucks from my sister which was an awful idea. She gave me so much crap and kind of ruined the con for me a bit. However the entrance fee was 50 bucks so that’s half of my money. I had to pay back 30 bucks for the bus ticket brough to me by my love, Raphael♥.  I ended up not even getting 100 bucks, only 70. The convention for the most part was a lot of fun. I’m starting to see myself growing up because the conventions don’t have the same effect they used to have. Or prehaps it was because I didn’t have money to splurge like usual. Next time I’ll have money. We also plan to get a hotel room booked for the upcoming ConnectiCon ’09. Sunday of the convention was prehaps and always the saddest day of the convention but it was my favorite this time. We got to play ParaParaParadise, which I missed a lot. No Pop’n though which was a little sad. I had a great weekend. We also got to see the Japanese group called Kalafina live. They put on a great performance. I’ve heard their music before but didn’t know who they were. Beautiful women with beautiful voices. From here on out as well, things will be different. Starting over.

{Cultural Weekend & Win.

So yesterday was a lot of fun. We ate ramen again for the first time in about a month. Then we attended the Japanese Student Association’s yearly O-matsuri. It was fun although it seemed a bit cheesy and Anime-Conventionish. However we did a lot of thing nonetheless. They offered sushi, melon bread, a raffle, 書道 (shodou)/calligraphy, They also had DDR however it was home version with regular pads so playing was kind of difficult with the pad moving around everywhere. Afterwards, we walked through CAS and found out that the Korean Student Association’s show had just started, so being spontaneous we went. I also wanted to go to see Sharon’s performance. She did a great job.  The KSA’s show blew the JSA’s O-matsuri away like completely. The production was so much better, there weren’t really any cheesy moments. It seems like they took a lot of time to put the show together. At the O-matsuri, everything was so disconnected and people started to leave really early. Afterward Raphael and I hung out with Sharon and her family which was fun.  The Korean Association’s show really made me more interested in Korea, it has a very interesting culture. I’m definitely glad I went.

The (愛) Dr.

011I haven’t listened to Namie Amuro (安室 奈美恵) for a while and so I found out today that she made a new PV (promotional video) for her new song ‘Dr.’ from her new single. It’s pretty catchy except for one part which I think is like  a bridge but the verses are very well done. It’s someone less urban in comparison to her most recent songs. However, I do kind of like it. Recommended.

となりのトトロ ~AMV と Wallpaper~

今日私とラファエルは「となりのトトロ」と言う映画を一緒に見ました。 とってもすごい映画でしたよ! トトロはかわいすぎていつも大きい笑顔でニコニコしています。 二年前、「Anime Boston ’07」に行って、「Something Wicked Comes This Way」というAMVを見せていました。 これを見ていご、僕たちは本当にみたかった。

I also wanted to use a wallpaper or something my computer. I found one I really liked but I wasn’t completely satisfied so I had to do some editing. It looks better this way in my opinion.
