今日、「電車男」というテレビ番組をダウンロードしました。一番目のエピソードにはジャマイカのフラグを着ています。「ちょっとへん」と思っていますから、ここにこの写真を置きたかったです。

明日への賛歌 (Ashita e no Sanka)

I found out recently about the artist alan. She is a quite an interesting artist. The song “Ashita e no Sanka” is in Japanese, however she’s not Japanese! In fact, she’s a Tibetan! Which is a rare find at all. She also sings in Mandarin Chinese. She’s the first Chinese singer to make it as high as #3 on the Japanese Oricon charts! One thing I love about the song is how she makes her voice imitate the sounds of a traditional Chinese instrument. It’s a beautiful song. Worth listening.

Okay so today was rather eventful. My first time going out for Japanese Hibachi. Before going I looked up some really interesting information. It is only called Hibachi outside of Japan becuase the actual word ‘shichirin’ is too difficult to pronounce for foreigners, or so they think. however, I dont’ think that’s the case…It’s just another way for the Japanese to think they’re superior to all others. Afterward was mini-golfing which I sucked at. Tristan’s score was well under par but mine was pretty bad…by 3 shots. I hope to take Raphael out to Hibachi and mini-golf too someday! I know he’d love it ♥

{Cultural Weekend & Win.

So yesterday was a lot of fun. We ate ramen again for the first time in about a month. Then we attended the Japanese Student Association’s yearly O-matsuri. It was fun although it seemed a bit cheesy and Anime-Conventionish. However we did a lot of thing nonetheless. They offered sushi, melon bread, a raffle, 書道 (shodou)/calligraphy, They also had DDR however it was home version with regular pads so playing was kind of difficult with the pad moving around everywhere. Afterwards, we walked through CAS and found out that the Korean Student Association’s show had just started, so being spontaneous we went. I also wanted to go to see Sharon’s performance. She did a great job.  The KSA’s show blew the JSA’s O-matsuri away like completely. The production was so much better, there weren’t really any cheesy moments. It seems like they took a lot of time to put the show together. At the O-matsuri, everything was so disconnected and people started to leave really early. Afterward Raphael and I hung out with Sharon and her family which was fun.  The Korean Association’s show really made me more interested in Korea, it has a very interesting culture. I’m definitely glad I went.

I’ve been doing so well this week about staying on top of my work. It makes me happy☺. Tomorrow I have a kanji/vocabulary quiz in Japanese and then I have classes that I’m supposed to do reading for before hand. I have to read a few pages for my writing class tomorrow (sounds weird but i do), and also most reading for my History/Sociology class. I feel very accomplished this week. I have to study like this as much as possible because if I let myself fall behind, there goes an entire half of a semester which can really f♥ck things up bad for me. It’s getting late time to head to bed soon but tomorrow on the test, 頑張りますよ!

Angela randomly organized an outing to the Japanese Restaurant in West Campus called “Kaguya.” It was a fun experience, the food however wasn’t all that great or anything. I felt like it was all missing something. The salmon tasted too much like chicken. The yakisoba was good but I missed the Yakisoba from Tokyo Game Action… Still it was fun seeing Sharon, Angela and David together again as well as Megan and Angela’s two friends (I forgot their names). I don’t think I see Angela enough. She somehow got this really dark tan and had I see her enough, I would have realized she was getting so dark. {haha)

今日のアッジクションは。。。土屋アンナ

I have seen her name appearing everywhere but i haven’t actually taken time to look up who she was until I was looking around on last.fm and saw a picture of her and I was like I didn’t know she was white. Then I read her wiki which states that she was born in Tokyo to a Russian-American father and Japanese mother. I guess that is reflected in her name as her first name is Anna which is very common in Russia and Tsuchiya which is a not-so-common Japanese family name. She has a very powerful voice and the song is powerful. I’ll be looking up more of her things. I’m sure that she has a bunch of very nice songs. I’ll be searching for them.

The song is called 黒い涙 (Kuroi Namida) meaning “Black Tears,” This hints at the sad tone of the song. Enjoy!
